Veteran actor Shivaji Satam remembered his friend and fellow actor Nana Patekar at a condolence meeting held in his honour in Mumbai. Titled ‘athvanitle Nana’ (Nana in our memories), the gathering saw members of the film industry come together to remember the late actor.

The event was held at the P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy complex in Prabhadevi. Speaking at the prayer meet, Shivaji Satam, widely known for his role as ACP Pradyuman in the TV show CID, shared emotional memories of his nearly 40-year friendship with Patekar.

“Nana passed away so suddenly. When I heard the news, I honestly couldn't believe it," Satam said. He credited Patekar for his own career in Hindi cinema. "I have countless memories with Nana. We had known each other for nearly 40 years, and it was because of him that I found my footing in Hindi cinema. He was the one who pulled me into Hindi films. He convinced me, saying, ‘You should do this. You must do it.’”

Satam also recalled how Patekar was a pillar of support, even stepping in when he felt his friend was not being paid enough for a role. The meeting was a somber occasion, with many industry figures sharing their personal stories and reflecting on Patekar's significant impact on their lives and on Indian cinema.

The sudden passing of Nana Patekar has been described as a major loss for the industry, and the event highlighted the deep respect and affection his peers held for him.
