The Taliban group has made wearing burqa mandatory for women in Herat province.

According to the order by Noor Ahmad Islamjar, Taliban governor of Herat, women without burqa are not allowed to enter government offices, hospitals, and shopping centers.

This decision has been implemented since Wednesday, November 5th.

The Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue has denied these reports, describing them as propaganda against the group. However, local sources confirm that women without burqa have been deprived of receiving services Even female medical staff must wear burqa to enter hospitals.

Doctors Without Borders confirmed that these restrictions delay women’s access to medical services. Drivers have also been banned from picking up women without burqa. This action is considered part of the Taliban’s restrictive policies against Afghan women.
