The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the launch of the second phase of its economic recovery program for Afghanistan (REVIVE II), with financial support from South Korea. This phase will be implemented in five key provinces.

The organization announced on Monday, October 26, via the social media platform X, that it is embarking on a new stage of efforts for reconstruction and strengthening local economies in Afghanistan. This initiative builds upon the achievements of the program's first phase.

According to the UNDP, REVIVE II will focus on four main pillars: strengthening people's livelihoods, rebuilding social infrastructure, general economic revival, and enhancing community resilience against crises. The program aims to help families achieve sustainable income and improve their living conditions.

The provinces where the program will be implemented are Kabul, Nangarhar, Kunar, Paktia, and Ghazni. These provinces were selected based on an assessment of needs and the existing capacity for successful project execution.

The UNDP office in Afghanistan stated that the financial support from the Republic of Korea's mission to the UN was crucial for launching this phase. This partnership demonstrates the international community's commitment to assisting the people of Afghanistan during the current difficult economic times.

The first phase of the economic recovery program had previously achieved success in job creation and support for small businesses. The second phase, with its increased focus on sustainability and resilience, is expected to have a more long-term impact on the local economies of these five provinces and contribute to the overall improvement of the country's economic situation.
