A deadly train disaster has occurred in Spain, with international media reporting a collision between two high-speed trains that has killed at least 30 people. According to Reuters, the incident happened on the line between Madrid and Seville.

The crash took place on Wednesday, October 28, in the Aruda area of Toledo province in southern Spain. Local Spanish officials reported that the collision involved a high-speed train operated by the state-owned company Renfe and a stationary train belonging to the private company Iryo.

Initial reports indicate that the Iryo train was carrying 147 passengers, including a baby, while the Renfe train had 397 people on board. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene immediately, launching a large-scale rescue operation to assist the victims.

The local mayor described the situation as "horrific." Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his shock at the incident in a message, extending his condolences to the victims' families.

This is the second fatal rail accident on this route in the past year. Approximately nine months ago, a similar incident on the same line resulted in 46 fatalities. That crash sparked widespread criticism regarding the safety and maintenance of Spain's railway infrastructure.

The recurrence of such a disaster has reignited debates about the need for greater investment in rail transport infrastructure and the enhancement of safety standards in the country. An investigation into the exact cause of the collision has been initiated.
