Choreographer Pony Verma has spoken about her relationship with acclaimed actor Prakash Raj, sharing that their 12-year age gap was a key reason their relationship worked, rather than a hindrance. She also revealed that his daughters from his first marriage stood by them at their wedding.

In a conversation with Prema, Verma said that Prakash Raj was upfront about wanting marriage from the beginning. She explained that the 12-year age difference, which drew criticism when they married, was precisely what made their bond strong. "My friends were mad because I was marrying a man who was 12 years older than me," Verma said.

"But I feel happy that we have a 12-year gap," she continued, "because I think a man like Prakash could really understand me and the depth of my life, where I have come from, how I think, and how I struggled."

Verma described how Prakash Raj ought a sense of calm into her life. "There is calmness that Prakash Raj ought into my life. So just sit back, enjoy… Nothing is going away, no time is running out, you’re not falling behind in life. Everything will work out," she said.

The choreographer added, "Honestly, only a guy who’s been through what Prakash Raj has could’ve handled me well." The couple married in 2010 and have a son together. Prakash Raj was previously married to Lalitha Kumari, with whom he has two daughters.
