US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that Susie Wiles has stepped down as White House Chief of Staff and will be replaced by Stephen Miller, a key architect of his hardline immigration policies.

According to Reuters, Trump posted on Truth Social that Miller, his current deputy chief of staff and trusted adviser, will officially assume the post on Monday. Trump praised Miller's long service and loyalty to his administration.

White House officials told Reuters that the choice of Miller signals a shift toward a more aggressive domestic posture following internal dissatisfaction with communication and political operations, coupled with lower approval ratings.

Miller has long been a central figure in shaping Trump's border controls and immigration crackdowns. In his previous roles, he pushed for an aggressive target of detaining 3,000 migrants daily, leading enforcement actions that included long-term US residents.

Susie Wiles, who was the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff, had managed Trump's successful election campaign. Officials indicated that after stepping down, she will transition into Trump's wider political operation.

The White House chief of staff is one of the most powerful executive positions in the US government, overseeing personnel, presidential access, and overall administration priorities.
