The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has provided food aid to thousands of families in three provinces, according to local officials.
In Ghor province, the Taliban’s Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said that 4,790 families in the provincial capital of Firozkoh received food assistance from World Vision. The aid included wheat flour, oil, lentils, and other food items.
In Samangan province, the ministry said that 2,105 families in the districts of Khoram and Sarbagh received food assistance from the World Food Programme. The aid included wheat flour, oil, lentils, and other food items.
In Nangarhar province, the ministry said that 1,208 families in the district of Kuz Kunar received food assistance from the World Food Programme. The aid included wheat flour, oil, lentils, and other food items.
The food assistance is part of a wider effort by the Taliban government to provide aid to Afghans who are struggling to meet their basic needs. The country is facing a severe economic crisis, and millions of people are in need of food assistance.
