Martin Griffiths, Deputy Secretary General of United Nations Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, says that the Taliban have not fulfilled their obligations in the field of human rights and the international community no longer has hope for this group.On Tuesday, the 15th of Gemini, Griffiths said at the opening of the briefing session of the Security Council that the Taliban, after regaining control of Afghanistan, made commitments to the international community regarding the provision of human rights, especially women’s rights.

According to him, the Taliban have not fulfilled their commitment and the international community has no more hope for this group.The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations added: “I went to Kabul on behalf of the Secretary General to talk to the new [Taliban] rulers.” I had worked like this for a lifetime in Afghanistan. We had hopes at that time, in fact we had written commitments on how we could proceed with the Taliban. These hopes are gone.

“This UN official has stated that the Taliban have issued one sentence after another against women and girls in Afghanistan over the past two years.

Griffiths, whose mission ends at the end of this month, noted that the international community, representing the people of Afghanistan, has not reached an agreement with the Taliban on many issues.
