Amrullah Saleh: Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Created to Deceive the West
Amrullah Saleh, a senior official in the former Afghan government, responded to recent remarks by Munir Akram, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations, stating that Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was created based on Pakistan’s military strategy to deceive Western countries.
In a social media post on Wednesday, June 21, Saleh wrote that TTP has always been within the orbit of Pakistan Army’s command strategy to deceive the West and portray Pakistan as a victim of terrorism. He believes that the group was formed with the help of the Pakistani military to establish a support base for the Haqqani Network and the Taliban, and to protect Pakistan against Western pressure.
Munir Akram, Pakistan’s UN ambassador, expressed concerns during a UN meeting on Wednesday about the possibility of TTP gaining access to advanced American weapons in Afghanistan. He called on the United Nations to launch a coordinated campaign to retrieve these weapons from terrorist groups like TTP.
The accusation of harboring terrorist groups is an issue that officials in power in Afghanistan and Pakistan have raised against each other for at least the past three decades. Amrullah Saleh believes that Pakistan is not a victim of TTP, but rather a victim of its own arrogance and short-sighted deals execute
