Taliban Expects Iran More Than Others to Recognize the Group
In an interview with Tasnim News Agency, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said that the Taliban expects the Islamic Republic of Iran more than other countries to recognize the group. Mr. Mujahid once again called on Iran to prioritize recognizing the Taliban.
According to the Taliban spokesperson, the group has achieved good cooperation with Iran in various fields, including in the economic sphere. Although Iran does not recognize the Taliban, it maintains economic and political relations with the group and has handed over the Afghan embassy in Tehran to the Taliban.
Zabihullah Mujahid also emphasized that the formation of the government, the nature of the government system, and its inclusiveness belong to Afghans, and no other country has the right to interfere in these matters. These remarks were made in response to the recent request by Iran’s special representative for Afghanistan to form an inclusive government in the country.
