Fazl-ur-Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, declared in his speech at the National Assembly on Wednesday, June 28, that the “Islamic Emirate” under the Taliban group will take control of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province within the next three to four months.

He claimed that the Taliban would seize areas such as North and South Waziristan, Ismail Valley, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and other regions. The Pakistani cleric, known for his close ties to the Taliban, strongly criticized the military operation “Azm-e-Istehkam” launched by the Pakistani army against militants.

Fazl-ur-Rehman, who has intensified his criticism of the Pakistani government and military after his defeat in the 2024 elections, alleged that Islamabad is conducting this operation to appease China. He also emphasized that he has opposed the war against terrorism since 2010 and believes that terrorism has not decreased but rather increased.

Currently, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party has allied with Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf party to put more pressure on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet. The Tehreek-e-Insaf party has also opposed the army’s operation against the Pakistani Taliban.
