Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Resigns and Leaves Country Amid Widespread Protests
Amid escalating violence and widespread protests in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stepped down from her position and left the country.
At least 95 protesters were killed in clashes with police on Sunday alone. General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, announced that an interim government will be formed.
Reports suggest that Sheikh Hasina, along with her sister, has flown to India by helicopter.
Protesters stormed the Prime Minister’s residence and took away furniture.
