Taliban Bans UN Human Rights Rapporteur from Entering Afghanistan

The Taliban government has banned Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Afghanistan, from entering the country.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban group’s spokesperson, accused Bennett of providing false information about the situation in Afghanistan.

Bennett, who has been in this position since May 2022, has repeatedly accused the Taliban group of human rights violations, especially against women and girls.

This decision could raise new concerns about the human rights situation in Afghanistan.
