Iranian Agent Recruited Afghan National in Trump Assassination Plot

جمهوری اسلامی ایران یک افغان را برای ترور ترمپ استخدام کرد

The U.S. Department of Justice has revealed that Farhad Shakeri, an Afghan national living in Tehran, was tasked by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards to orchestrate Donald Trump’s assassination. According to federal prosecutors, Shakeri was initially directed to target multiple American and Israeli citizens but was later instructed to focus solely on Trump.

The plot, uncovered in Manhattan federal court, involved a September directive from an IRGC official to Shakeri. The Justice Department disclosed that Shakeri, who previously lived in the United States until his deportation in 2008 following a 14-year prison term, was offered significant financial incentives for the operation.

Two additional suspects, Carlyle Rivera and Jonathan Lodeholt, were also charged in connection with the plot. The investigation revealed that the operation was meant to be executed either before or after the recent elections, with the conspirators believing post-election timing would prove easier.
