Parwana Ibrahim Khil Nijrabi, women’s rights activist and founder of the “Women for Peace and Freedom” movement, brought the voice of Afghan women to the world at the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva.
She called for criminalizing gender apartheid and increasing support for Afghan women, bravely speaking out about the oppression, discrimination, and violation of women’s rights by the Taliban group.
In an exclusive interview, Ms. Nijrabi stated that these meetings are very valuable to her as they provide an opportunity for Afghan women’s voices to reach the international community.
She emphasized that women’s active presence in these programs demonstrates their dynamism and amplifies their voice, contributing to effective advocacy at the international level.
Ibrahim Khil Nijrabi was arrested by the Taliban in January 2022 after participating in street protests and was imprisoned and tortured for 27 days.
According to her, this bitter experience remains an unfinished nightmare in her life and has motivated her to continue fighting for the freedom and rights of Afghan women.
