Local sources from several provinces in Afghanistan report that Taliban members, after returning from the Hajj ceremony, have decorated government Ranger vehicles and other official vehicles to transport their family members and relatives.
According to reports received on Monday, June 24, 2024, these actions have been observed in Kandahar, Helmand, Paktia, Nangarhar, Khost, and several other provinces.
These sources have also added that the Taliban used government budget during the Hajj ceremony, and many officials of this group have hosted guests using government funds after returning from Hajj.
Additionally, reports indicate that members of this group use government vehicles for weddings and other personal occasions as well.
Sources emphasized that most Taliban group members consider vehicles left from the previous Afghan government as “spoils of war” and use them for personal purposes.
Since the country fell to the Taliban group, hundreds of vehicles from government offices have gone missing or have been used by Taliban fighters.
