Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced this morning on his Truth Social platform that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel is now in effect.
In his message, he wrote: “The ceasefire is now in effect” and called on both parties not to violate it.
This announcement comes after a tense night during which Iranian state media reported that Iran had launched “the final round of missiles” toward Israel before the ceasefire began.
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, emphasized that Iran’s military operations “continued until the last moment, until 4 AM.”
Reports indicate that this ceasefire was achieved through mediation by the United States and Qatar. In separate posts, Trump thanked the Emir of Qatar “for all the work he has done for peace in the region” and wrote: “Congratulations to the world, it’s time for peace!” Although Israel has not yet publicly accepted the ceasefire proposal, this potential halt to hostilities could mark the end of the 12-day war between the two countries.
