Bismillah Shinwari, one of Afghanistan’s most experienced cricket umpires, has passed away at the age of 41 following a period of illness.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board issued a statement describing his death as a great and irreplaceable loss for the country’s cricket community.
Shinwari’s passing has triggered widespread reactions among athletes and social media users. Rashid Khan Arman, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and several other well-known cricket personalities have shared messages of condolence following the news of his death.
Bismillah Shinwari had an impressive career as an umpire at both national and international levels.
His record included officiating in 34 international One Day matches, 26 international T20 games, 31 first-class matches, 51 List A games, and 96 domestic T20 matches.
