The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced that recent flash floods have caused severe damage to several provinces in Afghanistan.
According to the organization’s report, in Maidan Wardak province alone, more than 50 irrigation canals and 885 hectares of agricultural land have been damaged, affecting over 18,200 people.
FAO has emphasized that field assessments are ongoing, and the organization is planning with its partners to provide immediate assistance and recovery plans.
The recent floods caused by heavy rainfall in Maidan Wardak, Logar, and several other provinces have resulted in significant casualties and financial losses.
Although the Taliban group has claimed to have provided assistance to flood victims, those affected have repeatedly criticized that these promises have not been fulfilled.
This comes as destructive floods have repeatedly impacted various regions of Afghanistan in recent years, causing irreparable damage.
