A 12-year-old Bangladeshi girl has alleged that she was sexually exploited by more than 200 men over a period of three months.

The child was rescued on July 26 during an operation conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police, with assistance from NGOs Exodus Road India Foundation and Harmony Foundation, from a prostitution racket in Naigaon, near Vasai in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

Officials have reported that 10 people have been arrested so far in connection with this case.

According to the girl, who is currently being kept in a juvenile home, she was first taken to Ahmedabad in Gujarat where she was sexually assaulted before being brought to the prostitution ring in Maharashtra.

This shocking case has drawn media attention to the issue of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children in India.

Judicial authorities have launched extensive investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in this human trafficking network that preyed on vulnerable minors.
