Recent reports from Helmand province indicate that despite the Taliban’s claims of general amnesty, the Taliban’s intelligence chief for Greshk district, Mawlawi Sayed Wali Saeed, has arrested and tortured a former military officer named Abdul Hadi Sarhadi.

Images of this former soldier with blindfolded eyes and bound hands have been sent to other military personnel outside the country.

Local sources in Helmand say the Taliban uses this method to pressure families of former military personnel to impose their demands on them. Reports suggest that the Taliban arrests individuals who criticize their government.

According to a source speaking to Zarrin Global Television, dozens of former military personnel are currently imprisoned in Taliban jails and are regularly subjected to torture.

These actions clearly contradict the claims of general amnesty that the Taliban had announced after coming to power.
