The Taliban group publicly flogged six people in Paktia province on charges of theft and same-sex relations.

The Taliban’s primary court sentenced these individuals to 20 to 39 lashes and imprisoned them for one to three years.


The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced on Thursday, August 28th, that these individuals were sentenced by the primary court of Paktia military zone.

The punishment was carried out in the presence of local officials, government institution employees, military personnel, and the general public.


The group had also flogged three women and four men on Wednesday on charges of extramarital sexual relations and fleeing home at a stadium in Ghor province.

The Taliban has publicly flogged at least 28 people across the country on various charges in the past week.
