Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan revealed his early career struggles in an interview with Esquire magazine.

He disclosed that a female producer paid him Rs 1000 weekly but demanded he kiss her cheek ten times before each payment.

Saif, who married at 21 and became a father by 25, said he had real financial obligations from the start.

He added that people told him he was lucky to get many chances, but the truth was he wasn’t getting the best movies or lead roles. Saif described the 1990s as his practice phase, playing second and third lead characters. His mother Sharmila Tagore criticized his film choices during this period.

Saif later found his footing in Bollywood with films like Dil Chahta Hai and Omkara. He was among the first mainstream actors to embrace digital platforms with Sacred Games. Today, Saif is considered one of Bollywood’s most acclaimed actors known for his diverse range.
