Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesperson, told Sky News that the group has held discussions with the United States regarding reopening Afghanistan’s embassy in Washington and the US embassy in Kabul.
He emphasized that Afghans will never allow their territory to be handed over to anyone under any circumstances, particularly regarding Bagram airbase.
Mujahid claimed the Taliban doesn’t face legitimacy issues, as many countries have privately recognized the group.
Only Russia has officially recognized the Taliban after four years of their rule. Regarding girls’ education ban, he stated he cannot make any promises about future school reopening for girls.
Afghanistan recently experienced a 48-hour internet blackout causing widespread disruption, with banks closing and airlines suspending operations.
While the Taliban spokesperson claimed ignorance about the outage’s cause, an internet service provider informed customers it was ordered by the Taliban government.
Human rights activists called it censorship that particularly harmed women dependent on online education.
