Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday that Deputy Foreign Minister Amna Baloch briefed foreign ambassadors about recent developments on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and the country’s firm resolve to protect its territorial integrity and national security.
The briefing took place as Pakistani border guards clashed with Taliban fighters Tuesday night at several border points including Kandahar, Paktika, Khost, and Kurram.
Pakistan stated that its forces, invoking the right of legitimate defense, effectively repelled attacks across the border and inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers.
Despite taking a tough stance against the Taliban group, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry emphasized prioritizing the political path, stating that Pakistan highly values dialogue, diplomacy, and mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan.
The country warned that any further provocation would meet with a decisive and proportionate response.
