On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, UNAMA has once again emphasized its commitment to supporting inclusive governance, human rights, and increasing international engagement with Afghanistan.
The organization stated that the situation of women and girls in the country continues to deteriorate.
UNAMA says it continues to engage with all parties in Afghanistan to support a governance model that reflects the diversity of Afghan society.
The statement also emphasized the necessity of protecting citizens’ fundamental rights and expanding humanitarian and development assistance.
This call comes as Afghanistan, more than four years after the Taliban’s return to power, continues to face multifaceted crises.
According to UN reports, more than two-thirds of the population, equivalent to about 29 million people, need humanitarian assistance while international funding has significantly decreased.
