The Torkham border crossing reopened for Afghan migrants on Saturday morning, October 31st.
The crossing had been closed following recent clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistani border guards, leaving Afghan migrants stranded in a camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Abdullah Faroqi, spokesperson for Torkham border police, announced that Pakistani authorities decided to temporarily reopen the crossing exclusively for Afghan passengers.
However, commercial activities and pedestrian movement across the border remain suspended due to ongoing tensions.
The closure has caused significant hardship for travelers and millions of dollars in losses for traders from both countries.
Pakistani officials and Taliban administration representatives are scheduled to hold talks in Istanbul on November 6th to resolve recent tensions and restore normal border operations.
