Pakistan has significantly increased overstay surcharges for foreigners, particularly Afghans whose residence permits have expired.
According to the new fee structure, individuals with illegal stays exceeding two weeks must pay $50, over one month $200, and over three months to one year $400.
This decision comes as thousands of Afghans have sought refuge in Pakistan following the fall of the republic.
Pakistani authorities announced that the measure aims to control illegal foreign residence.
The increased fines add further pressure on Afghan migrants who currently face multiple economic and security challenges.
