An Afghan asylum seeker who fled to the United States last year after being threatened by the Taliban has been detained by US immigration authorities and now faces possible deportation to Afghanistan.

According to ABC News and the asylum seeker’s lawyer, his arrest follows increased security pressure on Afghan migrants after a recent shooting in Washington, DC.

The lawyer emphasized that the man has no criminal record and attended all his immigration hearings.

Court documents show that he fled Afghanistan after being threatened with death by the Taliban.

His detention comes after President Donald Trump suspended all Afghan immigration cases following the recent shooting by Afghan refugee Rahmanullah Lakanwal in Washington.

This situation has sparked widespread concern among the Afghan migrant community, with many fearing deportation and a forced return to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan .
