Health sources in Daikundi province report that nearly half of the remote health posts in the province have closed in recent months due to a decline in foreign humanitarian aid.
Out of 56 established health posts, 21 have shut down following the reduction in international support.
These posts were funded by the United Nations Population Fund, and their closure has severely limited access to healthcare for local residents.
Meanwhile, Jawad Hakimi, appointed by the Taliban group as Daikundi’s public health director, discussed the closure of these health posts and the lack of standard ambulances and essential equipment with the Taliban’s Deputy Minister of Public Health.
The World Health Organization (WHO) previously stated that the suspension of U.S. financial aid led to the closure of 420 health centers in 30 provinces.
According to WHO, these closures have affected 3.05 million people across Afghanistan, further worsening access to vital healthcare services.
