Local sources report that Taliban intelligence agents have arrested a former military officer, Shirin Del Shaida, at the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat.

Shaida, originally from Panjshir, was detained upon his deportation from Iran and taken to an undisclosed location, raising fears for his safety.

In a separate incident in Helmand province, Taliban fighters shot and killed a man in Gereshk district. While Taliban officials claimed the victim was a thief involved in a shootout, local residents and human rights groups have condemned the killing as an extrajudicial execution, highlighting the lack of due process under the current regime.

These incidents have intensified concerns regarding the safety of former government security personnel and civilians. Despite the Taliban’s declared general amnesty, persistent reports of arbitrary arrests, torture, and mysterious killings continue to create a climate of fear and insecurity across Afghanistan.
