Abdul Sattar Hosseini, a former member of parliament, has once again sounded the alarm over systemic corruption in the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Metqi. He asserts that the ministry has strayed from its core mission and now serves as a hub for personal gain and the embezzlement of public funds.
Hosseini claims that Metqi and his team are unconcerned with ethics or national interests, prioritizing only money and personal power. He highlights cases of large bribes taken even for routine administrative tasks, such as issuing certificates, verifying educational documents, and marriage licenses—clear evidence of the ministry’s entrenched corruption.
He warns that this ongoing trend has severely damaged public trust and turned the ministry away from serving the nation. Hosseini questions how long Afghans must witness such lawlessness and the transformation of the Foreign Ministry into a sanctuary for private interests.
