The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has ranked Afghanistan as the least secure country in the world in its latest assessment. Released on Saturday, the report cites easy access to weapons, violent crime, and political instability as reasons for placing Afghanistan below war-torn nations like Yemen and Ukraine.

Contradicting Taliban claims of restored security, the international body defines peace beyond just the absence of combat, pointing to a lack of social safety and rising poverty. The Economic Times also advised tourists against visiting, labeling the country extremely dangerous.

The negative ranking is further driven by a rise in mysterious murders, suicides, and domestic violence. Observers argue that unemployment and institutionalized violence under the current regime have made daily life perilous for ordinary citizens.
