Former US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, in an interview in Kabul, confirmed that the Doha Agreement contains “secret annexes” never released in the US, though Afghan leaders at the time were aware of them.

He also acknowledged that US drones continue to patrol Afghan airspace, citing US national security needs.

Khalilzad argued that the Taliban must accept a legal, elective system that includes non-Taliban figures.

He defended the drone patrols, stating they do not constitute a violation of airspace but are a necessary measure for the US to monitor and neutralize potential threats.

The veteran diplomat also disclosed that the Taliban had made off-record commitments regarding women’s rights and education.

His admission of secret clauses and the justification for continued US air operations have sparked significant debate within political circles.
