The Iranian government has announced three days of public mourning for security forces killed during ongoing anti-government protests.

However, human rights group HRANA reports that the crackdown has been far deadlier for civilians, with at least 490 protesters killed and over 10,600 detained.

State media has labeled protesters as “terrorists” and framed the conflict as a battle against US and Israeli influence.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on government supporters to stage counter-rallies dubbed “national resistance marches.”
Tensions are escalating internationally as well, with Donald Trump threatening military intervention if violence against protesters continues.

The stark contrast between the government’s narrative and the rising civilian toll highlights the deepening crisis in the country.
