Taliban Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani stated that Afghanistan, having emerged from decades of war, desires security and stability for its “brotherly neighbor” Pakistan.
Speaking in Paktika, he emphasized that the Taliban do not wish for insecurity to spill over across the border . These conciliatory remarks come during a period of strained relations between Kabul and Islamabad. Haqqani aimed to address Pakistan’s security concerns, asserting a commitment to regional peace, despite ongoing accusations from Pakistani officials regarding cross-border militant activities .
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed frustration, urging the Taliban to decide if they want peaceful coexistence. The exchange of statements highlights the fragile nature of current diplomatic ties and the pressing need for cooperation on border security .
