The upcoming film O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor, has sparked controversy weeks before its release. Sanober Shaikh, daughter of the late Hussain Ustara, has sent a legal notice to the filmmakers, accusing them of falsely portraying her father as a gangster and damaging his reputation.
Dismissing claims that she demanded money, Sanober clarified that her father was a humble man who actually assisted the police, not a criminal as depicted. She expressed distress over how the film’s narrative has led to public misconceptions, with people now associating her father’s legacy with violence and underworld activities.
Set to hit theaters in February, the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial is rumored to be inspired by Ustara’s life. However, the family insists that no permission was sought, and they are fighting to stop what they call a distortion of facts for the sake of entertainment.
