American media outlets have reported that former allies of US forces are deeply terrified of being sent back to Afghanistan. These Afghan citizens are currently living in a facility in Qatar and face a highly uncertain and worrying future.
The US government plans to close this camp and has offered residents the option of returning or moving to a third country. Many of these individuals strongly assert they will face severe life-threatening dangers if forced to return home.
A US State Department spokesperson announced there are absolutely no plans for the forced repatriation of these people to their country. However, the difficult living conditions and uncertain status have caused profound anxiety among these vulnerable Afghan asylum seekers.
