The natural disaster management authority of the Taliban government announced that recent severe floods and rains have claimed at least 157 lives. These tragic events began in late March and have left 229 people injured across the country.
A spokesperson for the Taliban government stated that dozens of residential houses have been completely destroyed. Furthermore, thousands of acres of agricultural land and hundreds of kilometers of roads in various provinces have been severely damaged.
Taliban government officials have urged Afghan citizens to stay away from rivers and flood paths for their safety. Meteorological forecasts warn that more heavy rainfall and floods are expected in the coming days.
