The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has reported that recent floods in Afghanistan have affected more than seventy three thousand individuals. Heavy rainfall between late March and early April caused widespread destruction across thirty one provinces.

According to the latest assessment, these natural disasters have resulted in ninety three fatalities and left nearly two hundred people injured. The powerful floods have also completely destroyed thousands of residential homes and wiped out vast areas of agricultural land.

Although relief operations have commenced, only a small fraction of the victims have received assistance so far. OCHA highlighted that eastern regions, particularly Nangarhar province, suffered the most damage and urgently require multi-purpose cash assistance and essential humanitarian supplies.
