Several human rights organizations and civil society activists have launched a campaign demanding the immediate release of four Afghan journalists currently held by the Taliban government. They consider these arrests a clear violation of freedom of speech.
Hamid Farhadi, Shakib Nazari, Bashir Hatef, and Abuzar Sarem are among the journalists currently imprisoned. Previously, the Taliban government court sentenced some of these individuals to prison for allegedly cooperating with Japanese and local media outlets.
Human rights activists emphasize that such detentions highlight the ongoing suppression of media in the country. They are urging the international community to increase pressure for the unconditional release of these reporters.
