The Collective Security Treaty Organization has reported that security threats persist along the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The organization is increasing efforts to contain armed groups gathering in northern Afghanistan.

Viktor Vasiliev, chairman of the CSTO Permanent Council, stated that Afghanistan remains a primary challenge for Central Asia. He expressed concerns regarding cross border shootings from Afghan soil into Tajikistan, calling the security situation complex.

Vasiliev emphasized that member states will escalate joint efforts to neutralize militants operating in the region. The CSTO has repeatedly voiced concerns over the presence of terrorist factions within Afghanistan under the current Taliban administration.
