The Taliban government has announced that Uzbekistan wants to accelerate the implementation of joint economic projects between the two nations. Jamshid Khodjaev, the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, confirmed Tashkent's readiness during a recent visit.
A high level Uzbek delegation, including state officials and investors, traveled to Kabul to meet with Taliban government representatives. Both sides emphasized the need to expand economic ties, remove transit barriers, and enhance mutual trade cooperation.
The trade volume between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has now surpassed one billion dollars. Tashkent has also expressed interest in investing in the Afghan mining sector and establishing processing plants to further strengthen bilateral economic relations.
