Taliban Ambassador to Pakistan Sardar Ahmad Shakib said at the fifth anniversary ceremony of the Taliban's return to power in Islamabad that the Taliban does not pursue a policy of confrontation and seeks to expand relations with neighboring countries.
He emphasized that relations must be based on mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. Shakib also called on other countries not to allow their territory to be used against Afghanistan.
These remarks come as Pakistan accuses the Taliban of supporting armed opposition groups. Relations between the two sides have reached their most tense point in nine months, with border clashes also reported.
