Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, met with Shamsuddin Shariati, head of the Taliban’s Monitoring and Follow-up Department for Orders and Decrees, during his overnight trip to Kabul.

The two sides exchanged views on expanding legal and judicial cooperation between the two parties.

The meeting addressed issues including prisoner transfers, extradition of criminals, and consular rights of Iranian prisoners in Afghanistan. Iran’s embassy in Afghanistan stated that both sides reached understandings in these areas.

Gharibabadi said this trip aims to expand cooperation, with three important topics to be discussed: water, border, and legal-judicial issues.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs arrived in Kabul on Sunday morning within the framework of neighborhood policy to negotiate with Taliban officials on border, water, and judicial cooperation.
