Senior officials from the Taliban government in Balkh province have officially confirmed the presence of unidentified drones flying through their airspace. In response to this incursion, their air defense forces fired directly at the unmanned aircraft.
A military spokesperson claimed that these trespassing drones belonged to the Pakistani army and had violated Afghan territorial sovereignty. Earlier, local sources had also reported a mysterious drone strike targeting a regional military base in the Dehdadi district.
These escalating incidents coincide precisely with the expiration of a temporary ceasefire agreement between the Taliban government and Pakistan. Islamabad has strongly denied violating airspace while reiterating its commitment to combating regional security threats.
