Ahmad Shar’a, President of the Syrian Transitional Government, and his wife Latifa Droubi visited Tishreen Park in Damascus during Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Video footage shows the couple strolling through the park while male and female citizens gathered around them, engaging in conversation. Several citizens also took the opportunity to take photos with the presidential couple.

This event has captured significant attention from Afghan social media users who are drawing comparisons between Ahmad Shar’a’s approach in Syria and the restrictions imposed on Afghan women and girls by the Taliban. Users highlight the stark contrast between the two countries’ leadership styles and public policies.

Meanwhile, Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada has closed parks to women throughout Afghanistan.

In recent months, Afghanistan International has received numerous videos showing Taliban forces preventing women from entering parks – actions that have sparked widespread criticism and condemnation from human rights organizations and the international community.
