Ali Beyt-Allahi, head of the Risk Assessment Department at the Road, Housing and Urban Development Research Center, announced that one residential complex and 40 schools in Isfahan have been completely evacuated due to land subsidence.
He emphasized that Isfahan is currently the most dangerous city in terms of ground subsidence.
Beyt-Allahi added that several historical monuments in northern Isfahan have visibly cracked.
The subsidence rate in this city has reached 15.5 centimeters per year, meaning one and a half meters of settlement in 10 years.
Experts warn that approximately 2.8 million people live in the subsidence zone of Isfahan-Borkhar plain, with 328 mosques and 371 educational centers located in this dangerous area.
The permanent cessation of Zayandeh-Rud river flow has been identified as the main cause of this crisis.
