Michael Kugelman, a senior American analyst, says Trump’s repeated insistence on returning to Bagram demonstrates his genuine desire to regain control of this base.
Donald Trump, the US President, announced that America is trying to recapture Bagram Air Base from the Taliban group.
Kugelman wrote in an article on the Foreign Policy website that in the most extreme case, scenarios facing America could include a very risky military seizure of Bagram base or even its destruction.
Trump previously stated that this base is one hour away from where China manufactures its nuclear weapons.
The Taliban group has strongly opposed this request, with Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban, emphasizing that Afghanistan will not accept any form of aggression.
