Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announced that Pakistan’s federal government has responded positively to his proposal for negotiations with the Taliban group to end violence in the province.
He called this development “encouraging” and emphasized that instability in Afghanistan continues to affect law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking to participants of the 26th National Security and War course, Gandapur stated that dialogue with Afghanistan is essential for achieving a sustainable solution.
He added that armed forces, police, and people of the province have made great sacrifices to eliminate militants.
The Chief Minister also emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has hosted Afghan refugees for decades, but their return has been federal government policy, and this process should be conducted with dignity.
Pakistani officials have previously stated multiple times that terrorist groups have safe havens in Afghanistan.
